What Can the Righteous Do?
“In the Lord put I my trust: how say you to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
Psalms 11:1-3
What can the righteous do when the wicked bend their bow and make ready their arrows that they might shoot at the upright in heart? Do we stand or do we flee? Do we run to our mountain? Do we hide within the comfort of our own lives or do we stand? Do we silently watch as the wicked attack the godly, and do we compromise with that which is evil for it is easier than standing for truth? The darkness grows, and the righteous hide and accept, for what can the righteous do? I am but one – how can one make a difference, does one really matter? Ten righteous could have saved the lives of many, so can one righteous man or woman rescue and save those lost in a world of darkness? Build upon the foundation that still exists in the hearts and lives of many in our nation. Do what is right because it is right, and do what is just because it is just. The foundation of our nation is under attack each day, so we must stand in the gap and be men and women who steadfastly stand for that which is good, just, and holy, for if the foundations be destroyed what can the righteous do?
